Go Green

As always, everyone wants to update their look when a new season comes along, without completely changing their style. The solution is simple: just add a touch of color to get straight in the spring mood. Green bursts into the men’s wardrobe and gives a preppy, easy-going update to those smart casual staples for leisure time and weekends.

So what to go for? That depends. There are many shades to choose from: ranging from super-trendy, loud mint green to paler aquamarine, through the classic (and understated) army green and forest green. Naturally, each produces its own effect.

The darker, more classic tones underline the informal attitude of destructured linen jackets and loose-fitting chinos; when teamed with rope color and khaki they produce a casual mood with a vaguely colonial edge.

The brighter and more discreetly elegant variations – the aquamarines and pastel shades – used in small doses can lighten a business look, while combined with one another and paired with white, they create airy looks ideal for a weekend at the coast.

Finally, the real stars of the season are the more saturated and bolder tints. Mint green, emerald and office green look best on sport-inspired clothing (a cardigan, a polo shirt or a reworked bomber), reminiscent of the trendiest style sported at the most prestigious US colleges.
