Daytime Classic
If you consider that the elegant man can express his own style only through details, the fundamental importance of the basic pieces in his wardrobe becomes immediately clear.
A handful of key garments, intended to last much longer than one season because they do not follow the latest trends, to be mixed and matched when discretion and understatement are called for, but which will form a solid base for personal experimentation.
At least two jackets are essential: one formal, dark gray or blue, with as simple a design as possible, and one slightly more casual, in camel or brown and possibly made of a premium fabric. Then come the shirts: the more classic ones are white or pale blue, but thin stripes in a pastel shade are also a must-have.
Moving on to pants, it’s good to keep in mind that simple is best: it’s impossible to go wrong with a slate-gray, either in solid color or in the timeless masculine patterns Prince of Wales or houndstooth.
