On the 25th of August the first images of the Fall 2011 Armani Jeans campaign featuring Rafael Nadal were released at Macy’s in front of a myriad of fans screaming ‘Rafa, Rafa’.
Although used to accolades from the world of tennis, the Spanish born athlete is perhaps not as accustomed to praise from the fashion curious.
Nadal, who came runner up at the Wimbledon tennis championships this year, said his new modelling side-line had been a positive influence in an interview.
The campaign, shot in all black and white by photographer Steven Klein, sees Nadal posing enticingly in a number of Emporio Armani’s classic underwear pieces in what appears to be a dim, leaden elevator.
Although the tennis player no doubt looks sexy, what’s striking is with what ease he pulls it off (one might be inclined to believe campaign-modeling was his main job…) Speaking of the campaign, the tennis player said:
“Now that I’m working with Armani [it] is a new experience,’ he said. ‘It’s a different world that is very positive for me. I enjoy it a lot”.
Nadal follows in the footsteps of other prestigious sports stars, including Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham, who have also modelled underwear for the Italian fashion house.
All we can tell you is that if you enjoy these Campaign pictures, you’ll love the video we’re about to release…
