And the winner is…!
Last night’s Golden Globe Awards, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, kicked off – with its signature glamour. And for any true Hollywood-watcher and cinema fan, it should come as no surprise that the designer dressing some of the evening’s biggest attendees – whether nominees, presenters or guests – was Giorgio Armani. While the entire list of Armani-dressed attendees is too long to list, we’ll give you just some of the evening’s sartorial highlights.
The Italian designer actually created a custom-designed evening gown for the Best Actress nominee Glenn Close from his Armani Privé collection. Dark blue velvet and strapless, the bodice was adorned with crystals and the look was completed with a matching velvet bolero jacket. Close was nominated for her leading role in the drama “Albert Nobbs”.
Always splendid, the Best Actress nominee Jodie Foster wore a teal-coloured, custom-designed strapless gown with all-over beadwork and a cinched waist. And who was the dashing young man by her side? Her son, Charles Foster, who accompanied his mother to the event wearing an Emporio Armani one-button tuxedo with a white dress shirt.
The evening’s winner for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture? George Clooney, for his role in the drama, “The Descendents”. One of the most versatile actors of his generation, Clooney is always elegant on the red carpet, and his classic Giorgio Armani tuexedo last night was impeccably worn. Another A-list star, another spectacular performance, another perfectly-cut tuxedo: this time, a two button, peak lapel look for Leonardo DiCaprio, an awards ceremony veteran by now, and a longtime Armani friend and fan.
Other celebrities wearing Armani on the occasion of the Golden Globes were the Directors Martin Scorsese and Pedro Almodovar, Actresses Dakota Johnson, Francis Fisher and Emily Watson, and presenters for the evening, Robert De Niro and Clive Owen.
